In architecture minimalist style of factories, reconstructed or built after the war, was compensated with decoration. Industrial enterprises were often the main customers of monumental and decorative works in Zhytomyr artistic and production workshops due to the financial capacity and spatial organization of their buildings.
The execution of the monumental relief of the interior of the Zhytomyr hosiery factory is not a template in the context of Soviet art. First of all, in the decoration of industrial premises, according to the Party’s directives, artists always had to take into account the specifics of enterprises. In this case, there is hardly a possibility of a thematic combination of flowers and pigeons with socks. Pigeons, since the VI World Festival of Youth and Students, have been a symbol of peace in Soviet culture — inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso, the organizers of the festival used it as an emblem. The wave-shaped curves in this artwork form a field of space, colours of which vary from bright orange to saturated dark blue, that, like a light solution, resembles a sunset. The center of the composition is a schematic depiction of a poppy flower that contains many small flowers. The placement of the elements in the artwork is balanced due to the application of asymmetric curves by the artists. In the artwork there is no narrative element (and hence no propaganda) which at that time was widespread in the decoration of the interiors of factories.
